Dear Ms. Michel:

 

In the last 20 years I have developed various word list for our students. I would like to share with you some of the words that I have developed for the list.

Part 2 - Directions for developing your word list!

1.

In Word the document letter you already typed above-

Go to Insert, choose Picture, and then click on WordArt.

3.

Choose a WordArt design you like and click OK. A screen will come up that says Your Text Here.

4.

Type in the letter "A" , once as a capital (big) letter and once as a lower case (small) letter. Click OK.

5.

Click in the middle of your WordArt design, and drag it to the top left hand corner of the page. You can also stretch it by clicking and dragging on one of the little boxes around the edge of the design. If the graphic box appears click "TIGHT". See example below.

6.

The following words you will need a letter in WORDART to be placed inside your block letter. Including -Type the capital and small letter, write the word, write the definition. Use  www.dictionary.com to find the definitions of each of the words.

PART 3 - Design a Survey Using Microsoft Word

After you have your A-K Word ART and definitions in your Block letter add the following to your letter.

Insert a table with 5 columns and 5 rows. Go to table > insert > Auto-Fit is AUTO.

PART 4 - Use Smart Tags in a Microsoft Word Document

1. Go to YAHOO.com > Go to Maps > get directions from Watsonville to San Francisco.

2.  Once your map is in the WEB site go the URL address for that WEB page. right click in the URL area. Click copy. Do you know what a URL is?

3. Inside your Block letter. Type . Highlight  "Directions to San Francisco". Right click on that area. Click Hyperlink.

4. In the area that says "Type File name or WEB page" Paste in your URL from your map.

It should look like this when completed: "Directions to San Francisco"

PART 5-Add Text to Drawings

1.

Still have opened your Block letter.

2.

On the Drawing toolbar, click AutoShapes, and select the type of object that you would like to draw. Press the DELETE key to remove the drawing canvas from the screen.

3.

Click and drag to create a new drawing object.

4.

When you are ready to add text inside the drawing object, right-click inside it. Select Add Text from the shortcut menu. Note that some AutoShapes automatically put the insertion point inside the shape.

5.

Type your text inside the object, and then format the words as you like.

6.

Try filling the shape with color or a pattern by clicking the Fill Color button (with a picture of a paint bucket) on the Drawing toolbar. To make the shape stand out, add a drop shadow to it by clicking the Shadow Style button (also found on the Drawing toolbar). Click the Shadow Settings button to explore more drop shadow options.

7. Design two of these designs shown to you below. You are now done. Show me your work!
